Colorado Vacation

We loaded up the vehicle last weekend and decided to hit the road. Destination? Colorado! Man, that van can hold a lot of stuff. And we're off!

NM on day 1, CO on day 2.
And, finally, we're here!
Where is here? A cabin a few miles west of Divide, CO.
We had two acres, fenced-in. The dogs had a blast!
This is the front yard.
And the back.

Time to relax.

Noah loved this swing. He was in it for hours.

"Higher, Daddy!"

The back of the house was built into the hill.Which meant...
Brad had to run up and grab him before he went over the top...which would have been very bad.
Coming back one evening, we saw these mule deer in front of the cabin.

The kids make themselves at home.

One evening some deer showed up in the front yard. Maybe they were the same ones from earlier.
They hung out and grabbed a late snack.
Noah really thought he was going to go pet them.
As night fell, they settled in for the night!
I could really get used to this.

Garden of the Gods

This is a park full of amazing rock formations and hiking trails. We started at the visitor's center for trail maps and a glimpse of the beautiful scenery.

Noah loved climbing on the buffalo in the museum.
Jackson, not so much.
Then we drove around the park and stopped to look at the rocks.
And we might have tried climbing a few. The surface here was actually quite loose and slippery. It was hard going, and I finally convince Brad the kids would be better off on a trail of some sort.
Alas, it started to rain at that point, so we decided to continue our Garden journey another day.

Garden of the Gods - Part II

This time around we went for a hike on the Siamese Twins trail. We ran into some horses along the way.
The view was amazing!
Noah required a little carrying along the way. It was a mile-long hike, and some of it was hilly.
Still breathtaking.

Here we are at the twins.
Of course we have to make for that cool window.
My boys sure love to climb!
Yeah, we made it!
Noah had a little trouble on the way down.
Jackson is my little mountain goat.
Both Brad and Jackson kept wanting to go off trail.
Like father, like son, I guess.
This is the famous balanced rock.
And my big guy holding up the balanced rock. Talk about a workout!
