Cameron Park Zoo

On the way back home from Houston, we decided to drive through Waco. It's not on the way, but for those of you familiar with the area, I-45 really sucks. Especially on a Sunday. I don't know if it's the college students heading back to Sam Houston or what, but the traffic is terrific (not the good kind of terrific, either).

Anyway, a co-worker of Brad's took some awesome pictures of the lion cubs at the zoo in Waco, so we stopped in for a few hours.

I think the two on the right are the cubs.
The last time Noah visited a zoo was during our trip to Seattle when he was only 9 months, so I think he got a lot more enjoyment this time around.
I think the giraffes were his favorite. Here's the very cool play area in the zoo.Complete with giant snake with a mouth you could climb into - scary!

And Jackson's favorite...an awesome tree house with really tall slide. He went down said slide very slooowly and carefully.
It was only a brief tour since we had to get back to get the dogs, but it was a fun place. Pretty small, so it didn't take too long to see most of it. We missed some parts, though, including the jaguars! So we'll definitely have to go back.

We only live about 1 1/2 hours away, so we're thinking of going down and checking out the Dr. Pepper Museum as well. Mmm, I hear the original Dr. Pepper is the best stuff ever. We'll let you know if it rocks or not.

Next up, a trip to Hot Springs to hike up a big mountain and stay in a cool cabin on a lake. I think there might even be a paddle boat. It's going to be great!

Tet 2007

We went down to our old hometown of Rosenberg to visit the folks for Vietnamese New Year. Since Jackson is allergic to the cats at both my mom's and dad's houses, we stayed at a Holiday Inn and had everyone come to us. I didn't manage to get any pictures of my mom or her friend Nancy when they came over since I was too busy eating the yummy curry they made for us!Grandpa was a little blurry since he was running around trying to catch up with Noah.
He eventually won over his grandson's heart by letting him stand on the windowsill, something his mean mommy wouldn't do. I guess that's what grandparents are for. The wads of cash he passed around didn't hurt either. Oh, the kids didn't really understand the concept of money? That's okay. He gave out money to the big kids as well, and I'm already on the lookout for the perfect pair of brown leather driving moccasins. Thanks, Daddy!
Jackson was duly impressed with all the fantastic and expensive electronic devices his uncles flashed around. Devices his mommy and daddy don't own or even know exist since all their disposable income are handed over to the rich ceos of Fisher Price, Little Tykes, and Osh Kosh B'Gosh. I should totally start a toy company. If I knew anything about business or designing toys.

O
"You know, for kids."
