Mother's Day

Well, how was your Mother's Day? Mine started a few days early when I went to my eyebrows done and got a pedicure! It's so relaxing to just sit there and let someone else take care of me for a change.
Jackson and I slept in in Sunday morning. Till 10:00! I can't remember the last time I woke up so late. Noah finally came and got us. "Hey guys! What are you doooing???" Brad made me a cup of Earl Grey, and my boys gave me this pretty ring. Man, my hands are really short and stumpy!
Then after lunch, we all headed outside. It had been really hot on Friday and Saturday, but on Mother's Day the air was cool, and it was sunny and breezy. My kind of weather! The kids helped me water the plants, then I got to sit in my adirondack chair and read while the kids ran around and Brad brought me cold drinks. It was so peaceful.

That evening we met some friends for dinner at a Hibachi restaurant. It started out well, but then the chef did the flame thing. They usually just do the stacked onion rings/Mt. Fuji thing, but this guy set the whole grill on fire. It was big, hot and scary, and Jackson hopped off his chair and announced, "We have to go home." He ran into the little sitting area connecting the hibachi room from the sushi room and would not come out again. Everytime I tried to carry him back to the table, he grabbed the door jamb and held on for dear life.

So, finally, I left him there. The room had some couches a t.v. playing Star Wars, so he was happy enough.
Here they both are, absorbed in a galaxy far, far away.
Fortunately, Noah was willing to come back to the table with me. He's a little under the weather, poor guy, and was sort of fussy. Lucky for me, he mostly whined for Brad. Eventually, Brad got him to eat some steak and fried rice!

Me? I got to actually eat my dinner and chat with a friend! Adult conversation! My friend is expecting her first child, so the talk was mostly about babies, of course. But hey, what better topic to discuss on Mother's Day?

Finally we got a family picture on the way out to the car. We're all actually looking at the camera and everything - even Jackson. Thanks for taking all the pictures, Leslie.
Happy Mother's Day to all you great moms out there, including my own!
