We usually go to the farm with our playgroup, but this year it was too hard to get everyone together, what with preschool and work schedules. So I decided to haul my boys out on Jackson's holiday from school.
Well, it's usually a nice, autumn day when we go, but this year it was hot. Freaking hot. So the kids didn't have a great time. Oh well.
The only part Jackson liked was the hayride. It was bumpy, but the kids thought it was great fun to drive in circles around a field. Go figure. And it was tame this year, ladies. No wild, hang on to your kids for dear life, ride like last time. You know what I'm talking about.
And even though we were out in the sun during the entire ride (I spent the rest of the time running from shade tree to shade tree), there was a breeze while we were moving. So I guess the hayride was my favorite as well!
This is the quarter horse that's party of the animal show. We only saw a couple of minutes of the show because, well, according to my kids, sitting in the stands listening to some woman talk about animals sucks. Sucks big time!
And there was a llama too.
We went into the goat pen first thing. It was the only pen we went into since Jackson screamed by the gate the entire time. This little fella was sweet. He came and stood by me and nuzzled. He was so calm compared to all the other, frisky goats, that Noah came to check him out. Then he started to nibble on my shorts, which all the little kids gathered around us thought was hilarious!
There was even a zebra in the animal show...which we didn't...well, never mind.
And one big, fat, lazy pig wallowing in the mud. I bet he was cool, though.
You can also milk cows! Or scream at them. Whatever suits your fancy.

And pet the little cows. Or not.
Awe, a baby llama and a baby alpaca. Can you tell which one is which?
And little goats.
Can you see how red and sweaty poor Noah's little face is? I mean, it's October people!
Here was a cute little baby goat.
I think Jackson may have actually touched it for a second or two.
And since brother was willing to pet the baby goat, then of course Noah could as well.
And finally, on to the pumpkin patch.
There was very little shade in the pumpkin patch.
And it was getting on lunch time.
And it was still hot and muggy.
So we grabbed two little pumpkins to take with us and hit the road!
