Star Wars!

This was a really cool exhibit at the Fort Worth Science Museum. It had displays of real costumes, props, and models used in all the Star Wars movies.

Look, Wookies! From Episode 3, I believe. The ones who help Yoda escape into exile.Sand People, from Episode 4.
This was a cool hovercraft. We didn't ride since the kids weren't old enough.
Yoda and Mace Windu
One of those transport ships full of droids.
Storm Trooper and display of blasters and light sabers
X-wing fighter model. Aren't you jealous?
Millennium Falcon

Princess Leia , R2D2, and C3PO"Nekkid"3PO
Droid
Darth Vader, himself
Han and Chewie
The exhibit also went into great detail about the science, engineering, technologies, and, er, stuff involved in making the movies. Brad rented this interactive audio ipod thingy and learned all about it.
Whatever, I was busy keeping up with my two monkeys in that madhouse.

Here they are in the hands-on area making, uh, something that's supposed to help them understand how robots are designed.
It was really awesome!

Dinosaur Dig

This is the Dinosaur Dig area of the science museum. It's basically a huge sand pit with "fossils" buried in it for the kids to find.It was fun but hot.
Oh, and sandy. Really sandy.

The Little Gym

Noah had his first class today. He didn't care for the group singing/warm-up time, but he loved exploring the apparatus (apparati?) on his own.

And he always loves basketball.

He also did a somersault (with just a little help from Mommy) and walked on a balance beam. My baby is so talented!

I think he really enjoyed himself, and I'm looking forward to bonding with him every week.

Of a cheesecake

Brad made me a homemade chocolate cheesecake for my birthday last week. Here's the very last bite. Man, that was some seriously good stuff. I would kill for another slice right now. But with Brad's tres leche cake the week before, and Jackson's birthday coming up (with a cake for the family party and one for the kid party), that's a lot of cake. So I'm fasting this week. Slimfast and Special K and Salad. And some lowfat ice cream sandwiches in the freezer as a small treat for exercising.

But man, I highly recommend you make one of these. We used Nigella Lawson's recipe, from Nigella Feasts on the Food Network.

And the homemade whipped cream? I made that myself.

1st Day of School

Today was Jackson's 1st day of PPCD at the new elementary school 3 blocks away. Go Trailblazers! To say the morning was hectic is putting it mildly. So I didn't manage to get any pictures. It was all a lot of crying, anyway. I have to say, I was really perky and cheerful right until the classroom door closed behind me. Then, well, let's just say I didn't want to leave my baby there!

Jackson apparently stopped crying after we left and did well. His class goes down to the cafeteria to eat breakfast first thing. Jackson didn't want to sit on the bench and eat. He preferred to lie on the floor. But hey, at least he wasn't crying when he did it!

I did take a couple of pictures when I picked him up. He only goes half-days (for 5 days a week!!!), so this is around 11:00.

He totally didn't want to look at the camera. But I did manage to get a blurry shot of him grinning in the bike trailer. He knew he was getting to go home.
Well, this has been a stressful day for all of us. I'm glad he ended up doing well in class. I was a nervous wreck all morning. I couldn't stomach the idea of sitting around for 3 hours waiting to pick up him, so I dragged poor Noah to the gas station, the post office, the bank, and the car wash. At least I finally got some errands done!

Oh, but, we have to do this all over again tomorrow, don't we? Damn.
