August Birthdays

Brad and I have birthdays 8 days apart. We never make a big deal out of either days. Usually dinner out. Maybe a dessert. This year we agreed not to get each other presents either. We're getting old, you know?

So on Brad's birthday we went out to Fish City Grill for oysters. Mmm, oysters. Oysters on the half shell, fried oyster po boys. Mmmm. Instead of a cake, he wanted a cobbler. So I made him a peach cobbler based on Paula Deen's recipe. With some vanilla ice cream it was yummy!

Then, for my birthday, I had Brad make my absolute favorite, dark fudge walnut brownies!I also treated myself to a pedicure and had my eyebrows done. You'll have to trust me that my brows look great!
My mom sent me some birthday money, so I decided a new pair of shoes were in order. They even came with a fancy dust bag.

Finally we dropped the kids off with their aunt and uncle and headed out to dinner at Ventana Grille. We feasted on Spanish Tapas followed by an awesome rum chocolate mousse served in a fried phyllo bowl soaked in honey. I think Brad could have simply eaten the bowl by itself and been happy, but I had to have my chocolate!
