We couldn't visit the Colorado Springs area without driving up the famous Pikes Peak.
Along the way we stopped at Crystal Resevoir to take a little hike and start adjusting to the altitude.

We saw little chipmunks everywhere.
Starting on the ascent!
Getting even higher...
Finally, the top!
It started sleeting when we got there, so it was bit chilly. I expected to be freezing, but it really wasn't all that bad.
Brad climbed up the pile of rocks at the summit so he could truly be at the top.
Some gorgeous views. If only the skies had been clear.

Here are the tracks for the cog railway. Maybe we'll ride that next time around.

The kids fell asleep on the way down, so Brad decided to stop at climb up this big rock pile. He only made it part way before having to sit down and rest. He said the air was so thin that his heart started racing. I took the picture from the van.
Almost back down again.
That was an amazing adventure! Definitely go see it if you can!

Great pictures. So you made it to the summit of Pikes Peak. I am so envious. I tried it a few years back but was afraid I would leave my car up there. (The clutch was really heating up). So I turned around somewhere past the tree line.
P.S. Aren't Odysseys great? Welcome to the club...
