Because I know you've been waiting with bated breath to know how the second week went!
Actually, I was a little, well, not nervous like the first week. Just dreading any incident. Know what I mean?
Annoying Granny was there when I walked in, and I gave a little inward groan. She didn't seem all that happy to see me either. We were actually there a few minutes early, this time! Jackson went in just fine. Noah tried to coax me into the gym with him, but gave up when Mr. B called him to the mat. There were more kids this time...9 or 10...so there was another teacher, Ms. A Mr. B did the teaching, Ms. A did the corraling.
Let me tell you, my kids did great! They both stayed with the group (Jackson stayed most of the time), participated, followed directions, etc. I'm so proud of my boys. Jackson would run off from time to time, but Ms. A would simply call him back. Sometimes she had to go get him. She got very good at this task. Noah was very helpful as well, yelling, "Come on, Jackson!" All the kids would run off from time to time, though. I mean, we're talking about 3 and 4 and 5 year-olds after all.
There was only one time Jackson refused to participate. Mr. B rolled out the tumble track (big, inflatable jumping thing), and all the kids sat in the middle of it while it inflated. Then they got a few minutes to jump on it independently. He did well for this part. Then Mr. B had everyone get off and line up at one end. They then took turns doing various jumps across it, got off at the other end, and walked back around to the line.
Jackson was having none of this. He ran over to the corner of the gym (where I happened to be sitting on the other side of the window) and started climbing on the apparatus there. Ms. A came over to get him. This time, though, he lay down and cried, refusing to go back with her. She finally placed him on a mat and told him he could stay there if he wanted, but he couldn't climb on the equipment.
As soon as she turned around to walk off, he hopped up and ran to climb. She turned around and started to walk back. He ran and sat on the mat. This game was repeated during the entire time the kids were on the tumble track. I think Jackson quite enjoyed himself.
Later they played hide and seek. The teachers counted, and all the kids ran and hid. Well, all but my kids. Jackson just stood there behind them. Noah ran back and forth yelling, "Come find me!" We never play hide and seek around here, so I guess they don't really know how. I had to chuckle at the sight of my boys...so hide-and-seek-impaired. Granny gave me a very disapproving look, as if I was a terrible mother for not teaching my kids such a very important game.
But you know what? Screw her. My kids rock the Little Gym!

Ha. Maybe it's something in the water that you can blame on Brad and I. Jacob is horrible at hiding. I'll start counting and he'll hide a closet in the room we are in, complete with slamming the door.
"Come find me." That sounds about right.
Sydney will hide and then we walk around the house asking "Sydney where are you?" She yells back everytime "RIGHT HERE!" So much for that! : )
